Piramal Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Piramal Group, a diversified conglomerate based in India. Guided by the mission of #BuildingBharat, the foundation is dedicated to addressing critical challenges in education, healthcare and community development in underserved areas across rural India.
Striving to drive sustainable change, we have significantly impacted over 143 million lives across 27 states and 2 union territories focusing on education, health, gender equity, and water accessibility.
With a strong focus on philanthropy, we aim to bring systemic change, by addressing disparities and building capabilities. Bridging the gap between intent and outcomes in governance, we are creating institutions, processes, and incentives that empowers communities to take charge of their development.
Our approach involves creating the necessary institutions, processes, and incentives that can build the capacity of the State in 4 inter-woven areas – community engagement systems, information systems, talent systems and inclusion systems to develop capacity and ensure sustainable development.
- Community Engagement Systems which move decision making and solutioning closer to the communities; and work towards more differential planning, rather than “one size fits all” schemes which do not sufficiently address the heterogeneities.
- Information Systems that digitize internal government systems and improve data-based governance for better transparency and accountability.
- Talent Systems that invest in leadership training and reform the talent processes within the government so that we have the right people with the right skills in the right roles.
- And lastly Inclusion Systems that have representation from tribal, religious minorities and persistently deprived castes in the decision-making processes that serve their people.
MISSION
The Foundation programs are designed to enhance government systems by focusing on leadership development, digitization, decentralization, and inclusion, particularly mobilizing youth and women as catalysts for change.
